About Me
So, you’re wondering, “Who is this person?” I like the way you think!
The “official” [boring] bio
I actually cannot bring myself to do this.
There’s lots of background info and qualifications peppered into the conversation on the blog, so that’s probably the best place to find out what I used to do, what, in an “official” capacity, makes me worth listening to, and other factual stuff about me along those lines.
FB? The twitters? Follow me at @LaurieGay, on Facebook (oh, for the love of other people’s pics) or on LinkedIn.
The better, unofficial version!
I figured out a few years back that my thing (a.k.a., the grand sum of all I’ve learned and done and who I am) is helping you change your various relationships (like, the relationship between you and food, between you and your thing, between you and other people, between you and yourself…).
That’s what connects all of the stuff we talk about here. It’s a little dance that we do with ourselves.
- we chat about weight loss in terms of our relationship with food and with our bodies
- we chat about finding our right thing in terms of our relationship with the rest of the world and ourselves
- we chat about finding the way to be in our thing in terms of our relationship with our thing, with other people and with ourselves
And, other important stuff!
It’s just tweaking our many and varied relationships so that we know how to sit with them in a good place that makes us centered, successful and happy.
Here is some random stuff I’m into, in case you’re curious.
The fooooods. Cooking it, eating it (at home, in restaurants, at your house), talking about, looking at pictures of it. I like created through food. Amazing food and wine and beer is all… amazing. Particularly when it’s done in a super-cutting edge and earth-friendly way.
Gotta move the self. Movement makes me so happy. Yoga, pilates, walks, dance classes, occasionally the gym. Moving my bones keeps me in my groove. And, until the end of time, I only move in ways that I enjoy (no kettle-bell, weight-lifting or wind-sprints for me).
Music! It’s always been one of my things. From my PlaySkool record player to my iPod and live music, it does wonders. It’s fun, it changes my mood and I just love it. I’m always exploring new stuff and, oh yeah! Remembering old stuff. Yay yay yay.
Expressing the self. Visually. Like, in what you’re wearing that feels like you. How your living space is you-ified. Stuff you like to make. What is new about all of that today versus last year. Tinkering with this is a really powerful way to change life without having to, like, go out and change your life.
Traveling. Exploration! Send me on a travel quest and I will gladly go (especially to places that I’ve never been to before). I have some favorites that I revisit but the unknown calls to me.
My friends and family-ties. I love them all SO, so much. I hang out with the world’s best people. They are so funny and reliable and supportive and interesting. That’s one, massive reason why I love what I do — I get to work with my people! For, like, my job. Unbelievable! Right?!
Enough about me. What do you think about me?
I kid! But, seriously, you can hear some of the gossip (from when I left the room) by going here.
